Thank you, Julie, for another brilliant interview, this time with Janelle Brown.
I follow Jesus, he is my role model-feminist. He was such a great example of how to meet people where they are at with tremendous amounts of compassion. He completely equalised humanity in a male dominant society. He cared for, trusted, mingled, spoke to women, attracted children hung out with the marginalised, the outcasts, the poor and sick.
We need to mimic this unconditional love amongst the millions of displaced people all around the world, in the refugee camps and in places like Guantanamo Bay and Manus Island.
Unfortunately, the bible is a male heavily written book. It is also unfortunate women’s voices are absent and often recounts of them are sordid and not kind.
The few recorded women of the bible include; Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene, Bathsheba, Hagar, Jezebel, Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Naomi, Eve, Sarah, Deborah, Huldah and Vashti. xx
I’m so glad you liked the episode Fleur – Janelle is wonderful. And yes so is Jesus and his love and compassion for ALL people. You’re so right too about the patriarchal way that the bible is written. I cannot help but wonder if more women’s voices were a part of it how that may genuinely have changed the face of history for the better. Maybe it truly would then have been more of herstory too.
